The Resident Experience

House Guidelines & Standards

At Haven of Hope, uncompromising focus on community safety and well-being are top priorities. We take pride in offering purpose-driven, structured living. To accomplish this, we have House Guidelines & Standards that all Residents agree to upon move-in and are held accountable to.

Upon Admission

New Residents must pass a breathalyzer and/or urine analysis test
Residents review and commit to the House Guidelines and Standards
Residents are assigned a room number, bed, shower stall, their own food storage cabinet, and space in one of our seven refrigerators
Residents are required to leave all medication for safe keeping and storage with the office staff

The First 90 Days

Residents are not eligible for overnight, weekend or vacation passes during the first 30-days (1 month) of their residency at Haven of Hope.
Residents adhere to a buddy system for whenever they leave the Haven of Hope property during the first two weeks after admission. Approved buddies may be another Resident, an approved family member, and/or a Haven of Hope staff member.
Within 30 days of admission to Haven of Hope, Residents are required to obtain and start working with a Big Book Step Study sponsor and start the BBSS process.
Residents are required to attend an AA/NA meeting daily.
Residents must abstain from entertaining or pursuing any romantic relationship until they have been at Haven of Hope for 3 months

Ongoing Resident Commitments

Residents are required to continue working with their Big Book Step Study sponsor and actively work the BBSS process.
Residents wake and are out of bed by 8:00 am - Monday through Friday, with beds made by 8:45 am and in community meeting at 8:30 am if they are not out at their job. Weekend wake up schedules are more flexible to accommodate Residents’ personal schedules. Beds should be made no later than 10:00 am.
We pledge to support and cheer you on in your recovery journey. In return, we require your abstinence from substance use for the duration of your stay. We have a zero-tolerance policy for drug or alcohol use. Per our relapse protocols, we immediately remove anyone from the House that is confirmed or suspected of using or to be under the influence and try to assist with getting them the most appropriate treatment as needed.
Residents are required to maintain structure and a productive lifestyle through employment, school, or volunteer work.
Mandatory weekly house meetings
Residents are required to attend at least 7 AA/NA meetings per week and if either working or in school full-time, may attend 5 meetings per week after the first 90 days.
Residents must participate in mandatory house chores, which will be assigned weekly
Curfew is strictly enforced
Weekly Resident Fee (single, double and triple occupancy rooms are available)
A three-month minimum stay is recommended with the understanding that Residents are welcome to stay as long as needed, based on their individual progression.
Residents are responsible for their own food (purchasing and preparing), toiletries, clothing, laundry, etc
We encourage community meal planning, cooking and sharing dinner together. This is to assist in creating community and fostering bonds between Residents.
